John and Peter are Directors of a building company which started from humble beginnings in 2015, building a few homes per year. They were building standard modern homes but wanted to expand their business into the high end and prestige homes market.

THE BIG ISSUE

They were turning over $1-$2m with a profit of $100k, they were using a basic accounting system not utilising the job reporting system and also using spreadsheets to produce their job budgets. An inefficient way of operating and accessing information involved a number of steps and systems.

Once we reviewed their business plan and operations all our recommendations were action which included the implementation of a construction ERP system. The system had the following benefits

  • Detailed job reporting system (including budgets)
  • Reports showing cost overruns by each cost centre/expense
  • Analysis of budgets to purchase order to actual supplier invoices for each job
